Enzyme Catalysis
Lab Report | Biochemistry I 3346-02

The purpose of this was to determine the activity of the enzyme catalase in a solution. Analyze the enzyme Catalase in a substrate product reaction by adding it to a buffer of hydrogen peroxide, removing the aliquots from the reaction tube every 30 seconds.

Also to determine the amount of substrate remaining in the timed reaction. Removed aliquots were added to assay solution for remaining hydrogen peroxide. And to quantifiy the color intensity with a spectrophotometer and the reaction rate was determined.

PTC

Lab Report | Genetics 3366-02
In Genetics we learned a lot about the nature of genomes. PTC (phenylthiocarbamide) is a chemical that is considered bitter in taste. The purpose of this lab was to analyze of DNA from our cheek cells. Here the use of PCR was necessary to target a specific the gene that expresses this and amplified it. Then the DNA was ran through an gel electrophororesis to further analyze.

The Unknown

Lab Report | Microbiology 3232
The main purpose of this experiment was to identify the given bacteria using comparative analysis of biochemical characteristics. Using aseptic techniques the give sample was inoculated in different types of media and incubated for 24-48 hours and placed in the room temperature of 37 degrees Celsius. After performing several biochemical test the given unknown bacteria #2 was discovered to be Enterobacter cloacae.
